Dialysis is a treatment for kidney failure.

This treatment is an artificial way of removing waste materials and excess fluid that accumulate in the body when the kidneys' filtering function is reduced or stopped. During dialysis, a semi-permeable membrane is used to maintain the electrolyte balance in the body and a special fluid called dialysate is used to remove excess fluid and waste from the body.
